Today, Carla takes us on a "blob" hunt! I went outside and took pictures of things with weird, organic shapes and then played with them to turn them into imaginary animals. Want to see what I drew? Come to our Open Innovation Center to see the silly creatures that I found hiding in my imagination.

This week I want you to meet another guest instructor - Carla Sonheim! Carla has written books about art and offered art instruction in many different ways. She hosts her own blog and invites other artists to also offer art instruction through her video programs and on-line classes. Each summer she posts lessons - just for kids - and completely free!
I am going to be taking classes myself this next week - so it is perfect timing for me to introduce her to you - and be a student myself. You can sign up for yourself on her blog site or just check in here each day to see a brand new project - just for you! These are supplies that Carla suggests that you have on hand for the Kids Art Week lessons. Working with the DRAW function on a Google Document I created this EXTREME cartoon of a giraffe. It is fun to use the computer as an art tool! I was trying to meet the challenge of the day from sketchbookskool.com posted in their #sbsadrawingaday
The word for the day is EXTREME meaning really different in some way! Can you draw something REALLY - big or small - loud or quiet - light or dark? Hope to see you at the library tomorrow at EJ! Don't forget our Open Innovation Center this Tuesday 7/18 from
9 to NOON. We will be decorating book covers - and maybe even hearing a story or two! Would you read a book that had this picture on the cover? Do you recognize the character? I looked at a picture very carefully and tried my best. I hope you like it! I'm still looking for ideas about what to draw next, so if you have any ideas - leave me a comment, send me an email, or come to the library this Tuesday. I'm hoping to see many of you there.
I did experiment with the Telligami app. I think it would be a fun way for students to create an artist statement when they complete a project. But I don't know if I can get it to display here on our blog page....hmmmm? Time to explore!

And here it is as an embedded code!
Everyone had so much fun with Legos yesterday, I decided to make a quick sketch of My Man - Lego! It was fun to see how everyone showed off their creativity building their own lego landscapes. I think every landscape had a story behind it as well.
That is creativity in action! |
