So...I took a paper bag and cut it opened and laid it flat. I even soaked it in water to get out some of the wrinkles! I had brainstormed some ideas about what to draw on it first and decided to go with this simple drawing of a tree in late fall. I wanted to draw all the branches, twisting and turning, as they wait for the first snowfall.
I have titled it - Paper Bag - the Prequel - because a prequel is the part of the story that came before what you have already seen. The paper bag I used was made possible because a tree grew tall somewhere - and when it was harvested - it was turned into the paper we know and use today. That is why it is so important to recycle and reduce and re-use things whenever we can. If you are going into 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade this year, I hope you will consider joining the Environmental Club and being part of our Environmental Team.
Ms. Chapman and I (and the rest of the team) would be happy to have you join us. Just ask us about it!
